What a great idea! ETHER helps you sell your expertise over the phone and lets you create your own paid phone service. Uou just set your price and the time period you want to charge for (per minute, per 15 mins, per 30 mins, per hour etc). Ether provides a unique phone number for your customers to call, but it also provides buttons to place on your blog or website. Your customer hits the blog button and enters his credit card details and phone number - Ether then calls both parties and connects them. The service also provides tools for scheduling calls in advance and showing your status (Call Me!, “Arrange Call) on your blog button. Calls can be forwarded to any number, including cellphones and SkypeIn numbers. Ether is free to set up, but they charge 15% commission on all your calls. They currently pay by check.

Do you know REVVER? Previously explained on this blog, as a teenage fun cocktail, you are probably aware now that diet coke + mentos candy create explosive shots like the dancing bellagio water show in Las Vegas.
Now listen, 2 guys managed to transform this cocktail into a CASH IN machine and managed to get more than 30,000 USD Ad revenues during the first week! They have generated several million of views. This is not uncommon for YouTube, but it's a record for Revver.com, a video-serving company that splits ad revenue 50/50 with its creators; which means 15,000 USD for Revver.
An interesting part of the story is that the advertising budget of mentos for the year is less than 20 millions USD. Mentos estimates the value of this viral video to be over 10 millions USD. Moreover the guys are gonna be hired for an affical ad concept.
Also, an easy-to-use tool exists to monetize videos on the web and get paid back. Damn, they had a good idea, aren't you a little bit jealous?

Did you know about EXTORTR?
Extortr is a great evilish idea and also a new tool that makes blackmail faster and more efficient than ever before. It bills itself as the “most technologically advanced extortion service in the world.
1. Simply upload a scandalous photo or video
2. Set a price and use Extortr to send an anonymous threat by email.
3. If your victim doesn’t pay, the upload goes public. The service takes a 10% cut of all transactions, with a $5 minimum. Payments are made via Paypal or - in some cases - deposited into a Swiss bank account.

If some vloggers do not want to monetize their blog because it's just a hobby, the Rocketboom folks got a juicy business model, apparently some of their ads go for upwards of 85,000 US dollars a week. It seems that it depends on the vlogger's will to make money of their blog. But for those who want to, the question is how not to send away their watchers? Apparentlly, the ads will be different than the ones we are used to see on TV. They might be much shorter, or even transparent for a few seconds, appearing during the buffering time or at the end of the podcast. What do you think?

Vlogging is the new way for amateurs performers to find an internet audience. Because today, all you need to broadcast video on the web, as they do, is a digital camera, a high speed internet connection and a web site that will host your creation. What will be the future of vlogging and how will traditionnal media react to this phenomenon? How many of those who vlog may be able to make a living of it?

Robert Scoble moves from Microsoft to Podtech.net
Robert Scoble says it wasn’t a defection. We all know the code words: “left to pursue other opportunities. But in the truest sense of those words, Robert says he leaves Microsoft because his work there was done and he comes to PodTech to participate in a nascent industry that promises to go nova. IP-based digital media is more than–and will be more than–just a delivery mechanism. Think about it… what more can one do with terrestrial signals? The radio industry has eked out some extra functionality by giving existing in-band broadcasters digital rights to multiple channels. Great. More Top-40. But IP-delivered audio and video is just at the beginning of their development. Applications for text have transformed PCs from being digital typewriters into awesome tools. Imagine what app developers are going to do to audio and video, especially as it goes wireless. That’s Scoble’s world.
